What's the difference between a PCU and a regular solar inverter?

A PCU (Power Conditioning Unit) is a hybrid system — it manages three power sources together: solar, battery and grid (or generator). A regular solar inverter only handles solar-to-AC conversion. If you face frequent outages and want battery backup on top of solar savings, choose a PCU. If your grid is reliable and you only want to offset your bill, a string inverter is simpler and cheaper.

Is this product compatible with the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?

PM Surya Ghar applies to on-grid net-metering systems. A hybrid PCU can run in on-grid mode, but you'll need a separate net-metering setup approved by your DISCOM. For pure subsidy-claim purposes, our on-grid kits are a more direct fit.

How many batteries do I need?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the system voltage and your backup needs. For a 96V system you typically use 8 × 12V batteries. For 4–6 hours of backup on a mid-size home, we recommend 150Ah tubular batteries; step up to 200Ah for longer backup. A lithium pack covers the same range with a smaller footprint and longer life.

Can I add more solar panels later?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The unit supports solar expansion up to its rated MPPT capacity. You can start smaller and add panels as your usage grows, as long as the total stays within the limits in the manual.

What happens during a power cut?

Switchover is seamless — transfer time is under 10 ms, so computers, routers and TVs won't reboot or flicker. If solar is generating, it keeps powering your load and charging the batteries even during a grid cut.

Is installation included? Who installs it?

Yes — free standard installation across 240+ cities by UTL-certified partner technicians. Standard install covers wall mounting, battery connection and commissioning. Custom wiring or rooftop panel install is quoted separately after a site survey. You can reserve your install slot at checkout.
